The club holds an annual league, allowing members to compete for the league trophies at the end of the season.
Each year we run an Open and Novice League each for men and women:
- The Open Leagues are open to all members;
- The Novice Leagues are open to members competing in their first or second year in triathlon. If in their second year they must not have competed in more than two races in their first year.
Each year, a number of races of various distances are chosen for inclusion in the League. Members are required to race in at least three races in order to be included in the league with their best 3 results counting towards their final score. You will be able to nominate one ‘wildcard’ race not on our list of your own choice as one of your scoring races.
Scores are calculated in comparison with others racing in the same age group so everyone has a chance of winning. A list of this year’s races is below.
- All participants must be fully paid up members of Burntwood Triathlon Club.
- Participants must compete as ‘Burntwood Triathlon Club’ and appear in the race results as such.
- You can enter as many races as you like. Your best 3 results will count. In the event of a tie, your 4th result will count.
- Scores will be calculated by dividing your finishing time by the winning time in you age group. The lowest score at the end of the year will win. Men and women will compete separately.
Each year we also nominate one Sprint and one standard (Olympic) distance race as the Club races where the best scoring members (male and female) will each win a small prize. We try to get as many members as possible to this race and make it a bit more of a social occasion. This year’s Club races will be:
Sprint Championships – BRAT Birmingham triathlon – date TBC but rumoured to be August or September.
Standard distance championships – Blithfield Triathlon – 29th July
In addition to this the ‘Darren Hale Memorial’ trophy will be presented to the best placed member in the Blithfield Triathlon (Olympic distance) in either the male or female open race.
What to do now:
Mark Drayton is in charge of the League this year. He can be contacted on email@example.com or see him at swimming. If you plan to take part in a League race, or have already raced, please let Mark know. It will help him a lot if you can let him know your finishing time and, ideally, the finishing time of the winner of your age group.
** Please remember to enter races with our Club name – it makes it much easier to find results!
And it would be lovely to see some photos of you all in your Club kit!
