Bike Training

Please note that bike sessions, unless accompanied by a qualified coach, are not covered by the Club insurance. Participation is at your own risk. Riders must wear a cycle helmet at all sessions listed and all bikes must be roadworthy. We advise carrying your Club membership card with emergency contact details on all rides.

Novice Rides

Burntwood Tri ClubThis summer we hope to organise a series of Sunday bike rides aimed at the more novice (or relaxed) cyclists in the Club. The dates and meeting point have yet to be confirmed. Watch this website, your emails and our Facebook page for more details.

Intermediate/Advanced Rides

There is currently no official Club ride due to a lack of participants. Several groups of members are riding at weekends or during the week so, if you’d like to join them, or are planning a ride and would like some company, ask around at swimming or use our Facebook page. Our members can also join LCCC rides – see their website for details.

Track Sessions – Curborough

LCCC sessions

Over the summer, Lichfield City Cycle Club (LCCC) run weekly trainings sessions on Curborough Sprint Track just outside Lichfield. Our members are welcome to attend. These are not official coach led sessions although sometimes a club coach (LCCC) will be in attendance – everybody rides at their own risk. Minimum age is 16. These sessions are suitable for experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding in groups. The purpose of the sessions is to get people riding fast in a group giving an opportunity to practice techniques and strategies at race pace; the circuit is quite technical and cornering skills are quickly learned! Don’t be put off if you’re a novice to this type of cycling – it isn’t rough and the sessions will improve your speed and bike handling skills all in a traffic free environment. Each session consists of a warm up (group riding) followed by a 45 min ‘race’.

NB. These sessions are not suitable for bespoke Time Trial bikes. Clip on tri bars are OK but must not be used! Helmets must be worn.

Sessions this summer are currently running on  Friday evenings 6.15 – 8pm. Cost is £3 to non LCCC members.

If you have any queries contact Paul Askey (07973 572693).

Novice ladies sessions

This summer there will be sessions at Curborough on Monday and Wednesday evenings aimed at novice or beginner women cyclists. This will be a great opportunity to practice bike handling skills and gain confidence in a traffic free environment. There will also be occasional sessions on roadside bike repairs, bike maintenance and riding in a group on roads. In May and June there will be special sessions alongside two national campaigns – This Girl Can and Move More aimed at getting ladies aged 50-60 into or back into cycling.

Sessions will run on Monday and Wednesday 6.30-8.30pm. Cost is £4 per session.
